1. EXT. BUS STOP. AFTERNOON
We see a WIDE SHOT of TWO GIRLS sitting at the bus stop waiting shed. KAYE is listening to music with her earphones on, and TASHA is just sitting patiently for the bus.
KAYE (V/O)
We meet new people every day. Sometimes we think they're just random new people that come in our lives, but sometimes they turn out to be a lot more than that.
CLOSE UP on TASHA as she grows a bit impatient, checking her watch for the time, then CLOSE UP on KAYE as she quietly nods her head to the beat of the music.
We see a SIDE VIEW of them waiting for the bus.
FADE.
The next day: WHOLE BODY SHOT of TASHA slightly running towards the bus stop. We see the waiting shed from TASHA’S POV, and then CLOSE UP on KAYE’S face as she looks up from her iPod to give TASHA a smile. CLOSE UP on TASHA as she catches her breath and sits down on the bench.
TASHA
I thought I was gonna miss it!
KAYE (V/O)
For my case, we met at a bus stop. She was running late one time and she thought she would miss it, luckily she didn't. Since we were always on the same bus stop, we started talking and became fast friends. There was just something about her that seems so familiar and I can't really tell what it was.
We see a WIDE SHOT of the two girls talking, with TASHA talking animatedly and KAYE laughing.
FADE.
2. EXT. PARK. AFTERNOON
WIDE SHOT of KAYE walking towards the park. She has her earphones on again as she walks. CLOSE UP on her face as she smiles contentedly. CLOSE UP on her feet as she walks. WIDE SHOT of her walking again. PAN slowly around the area, then goes back to the middle where we see TASHA’S BACK VIEW sitting there.
CLOSE UP on KAYE’S surprised but happy expression, and WIDE SHOT of her walking towards TASHA who has a distant look on her face. CLOSE UP on TASHA as she throws a rock to the grass area. KAYE comes up behind her and proceeds to sit next to her.
KAYE
Hey!
KAYE (V/O)
I saw her once at the park. She was sitting there looking so down so I sat beside her and asked what was wrong. She talked about family problems, and she said she wouldn't be surprised if her parents plan to get a divorce. What will happen to her and her sister? Parents are just hard to understand, she said. I comforted her and tried to make her laugh a couple of times, and she seemed to be a bit better to get it out of her chest. She then showed me her family picture, and I couldn't believe what I saw. I asked her if she was serious. Well of course she was, pictures don't lie and it's her family.
TASHA looks up, surprised. She gives a small smile to KAYE but still looks a bit sad. KAYE asks her what’s wrong, and they talk. TASHA tells her about her family problems; her parents are thinking of getting a divorce and are thinking which child would stay with whom. KAYE comforts her and lightens up the conversation, making TASHA think of all the good times spent with their family. She tells her about her family too. She says she’s adopted but she has a picture of her real mum, the only memory of her. We see a WIDE SHOT, CLOSE UP AND SIDE VIEW of them talking.
KAYE (V/O)
She then showed me her family picture, and I couldn't believe what I saw. I asked her if she was serious.
CLOSE UP on TASHA as she digs her back to get her wallet, and we see a family picture. She hands it to KAYE, and as she sees it, we see a CLOSE UP of her eyes widen.
KAYE’S eyes show surprise, and she began to feel agitated. She stands up.
KAYE
Are you serious????
KAYE (V/O)
I got so shocked I couldn't say anything, so I just left.
CLOSE UP on TASHA who gets confused. She nods slightly. KAYE gets her wallet and gets a picture too, and throws it to TASHA before walking away. TASHA picks it up, and her eyes widen as well.
3. INT. HOUSE. AFTERNOON
WIDE SHOT of KAYE with a desperate expression talking to someone, and we see that someone’s back from the camera’s view. She looks close to tears as she is explaining.
KAYE
I know where she is! Who would have known they’re just around there?
TASHA gets pulled in for a hug by her adoptive mother.
KAYE (V/O)
I got so shocked I couldn't say anything, so I just left.
4. INT. KAYE’S ROOM
We see KAYE in the corner of her bed looking extremely sad. Her face shows a series of varied emotions, from sad to desperate and angry. CLOSE UP on her on some views and WIDE SHOT of her showing these emotions, with flashbacks of her encounter with TASHA, and the pictures.
KAYE (V/O)
I've finally found her, after all these years. You see, my 'mum' from before isn't my real mother, and she never hid the truth from me, that I was adopted. My real mum gave me away when I was really young with a picture of us together. And now I finally know where she is.
I know I should be happy, I've found my real mother, and I found out I have a sister. But I wasn't prepared for this. I've been wondering all my life where she went and why she gave me away.
I didn't expect she would be the mother of my new friend. I didn't expect that this new friend of mine is actually my sister. They were just so near but I didn't even know.
I was happy. I was contented with my new life. I gave up looking for my real mother and decided to just be happy with what I have. But why do I have to find out about all of this now, when everything's alright? Life is so unfair.
But I still want to find out the real reason. Maybe, if I get to know the truth, I'd come to accept that my mother and sister are just around the corner.
5. EXT. PARK. AFTERNOON
We see KAYE’S BACK VIEW sitting in front of the park. Then a SIDE VIEW of her looking distant. She picks up a rock and throws it to the grass. Then a FRONT VIEW of her looking deep in thought.
We see a WIDE SHOT of KAYE’S BACK VIEW again, and TASHA comes in the scene. She slowly walks to where KAYE is and sits down beside her. SIDE VIEW of the two girls and KAYE looks to her right to look at TASHA. TASHA seemed a bit hesitant about talking to her newly found sister, and she cautiously gave back the two pictures to her. We see a CLOSE UP of the two photos, TASHA’S photo was with a mum, a dad and a little baby. KAYE’s photo was with a young mother with a child in her arms. We can conclude that they have the same mother.
CLOSE UP on KAYE’s tearful expression, then CLOSE UP on TASHA’S comforting expression which says, ‘It’s going to be okay.’ She gives another smile to TASHA, who finally lets go of her tears, and they hug.
KAYE (V/O)
Yes, we meet a lot of new people every day. But we never expect they will turn out to be a lot more than new strangers in our lives. I've met my sister who I never knew existed until a week ago. We have to be prepared for important people just beginning to show everywhere, and that they are just around the corner. They can never be that far.
We see the BACK VIEW of the two girls hugging, then the camera ZOOMS OUT until we get a WIDE SHOT with the grass area in the background.
Then the screen turns to black.
